Johnson to Direct
Center for Ministry

Bishop Marshall L. Meadors and Millsaps President George M. Harmon have announced the appointment of the Reverend C. Andrew Johnson as director of the Center for Ministry at Millsaps.
Johnson, who is pastor at Tylertown United Methodist Church, will become full-time Center director in June, with interim duties beginning April 4. He was selected by the Center’s Board of Directors, chaired by Dr. Aubrey Lucas of Hattiesburg. "The Center is fortunate to have as its founding director a person who is an effective parish minister and who is familiar with the strengths and challenges of the United Methodist Church in Mississippi," states Lucas.
The Center for Ministry has been established as a partnership between the Mississippi Conference and Millsaps to focus on leadership development and continuing education for laity and clergy of the Conference.
"The primary task of the Annual Conference is to discover, develop and deploy leaders, both lay and clergy, for the Church," Bishop Meadors says. "Millsaps and the Conference have developed this unique partnership to accomplish this goal."
Johnson shares this enthusiasm about the Center, which will be located in the Academic Complex and will officially open in April. "The Center will draw from the best in academic study and from the best of church life, and will play a significant role in shaping the lives of faith communities in the coming years. I am excited about this opportunity to serve as its first director," Johnson says.
In addition to pastoring several UMC churches, Johnson has served as campus minister/ Wesley Foundation Director at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi and the Candler School of Theo- logy at Emory University. He is also a member of the Millsaps Council on Church Relations.
