Laird Featured on 
Trauma: Life in the ER  

On November 3, 1998, Millsaps alumnus Dr. David Laird was featured on The Learning Channel’s series, Trauma: Life In The ER. The popular series, now in its third season, documents emergency room heroics, split-second, life-saving decisions, and intimate portrayals of the men and women who devote their lives to bringing medical and emotional solace to their patients. The Learning Channel (TLC) reaches 66.8 million homes in the U.S. and 6.2 million in Canada. 
     The one-hour episode entitled "Amazing Grace" offers a behind-the-scenes look at the dedicated medical professionals serving Memphis and the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Dr. Laird and colleagues were taped over a four-week period. 
     Raised in Jackson, Dr. Laird attended Emory University Medical School after graduating from Millsaps. He served his internship at Methodist Hospitals of Memphis and his residency at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. He is currently a captain in the U.S. Air Force serving as a General Surgeon at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.
