Pre-Social Work
Students who wish to prepare for
a professional career in social work should plan a broad liberal
arts program with a major in one of the social sciences, preferably
sociology-anthropology or psychology. Introduction to Sociology,
Introduction to Human Services, Introduction to Anthropology,
Marriage and Family, and Social Stratification are essential.
Other courses which are strongly recommended include Theories
of Personality and Social Psychology. Internships can provide
valuable practical experience with community social welfare agencies.
Students are urged to consult with their faculty advisers to plan
a schedule.
