| Dr. Roy received
her Bachelors degree in chemistry from M.S. University of Baroda and
received a Masters degree in biotechnology from same university.
After that, she earned a diploma in journalism from the Times
Center for Media Studies in New Delhi, India. She worked as
a journalist with The Economic Times in Ahmedabad, India. After
working for the newspaper she decided that she would like to
pursue a degree in the social sciences. She then earned a Masters
degree in sociology from Utah State University and just received
her Ph.D. in development sociology from Cornell University
in August 2006.
Her research interests
include studying the social aspects of genetic engineering,
social movements, and religion.
Dr.Roy is the co-advisor
of Millsaps Masala and the Diwali show.
She is a big fan
of detective stories and Bollywood, as well as Hollywood,
movies.
