On-line textbook: Provided by Statistica: This is a very useful tool for those who have a basic to good working knowledge of statistics. A notable feature is the catalogue of graphs. Beginning users of statistics will find help here but the text is not rich with examples and assumes a basic understanding of algebra.

Bill Trochim’s Center for Social Research Methods :This is a comprehensive resource for statistics and methods in the Social Sciences. Among its features are:     Selecting Statistics: This is a tool that will help you select the correct statistics by asking a series of questions about your data.

Simple Interactive Statistical Analysis : Nifty way to get fast statistics. This is no substitute for your high-level stats package but it delivers results quickly and conveniently.

Statletts   are Java applets for statistical analysis and graphics that can be downloaded from the web.

HyperREASEARCH qualitative data analysis software used by social scientists.  Manages and performs text analysis.  Can store and code video and audio clips.

MicroCase   MicroCase is a social sciences software package that is especially compatible with teaching. MicroCase Corp published textbooks and workbooks that are bundled with student versions of their full statistics package. A strong feature of this package is that a subscriber can purchase an extensive data archive.

MiniTab Minitab is an easy-to-use product that is popular as a tool to teach statistics as well as do research.

SPSS   SPSS which originally stood for "Statistical Package for the Social Sciences" but now means "Statistical Product and Service Solutions." SPSS has a wide range of software that will meet most research needs imaginable

Statistica is statistical software that has applications for science, engineering, and business

WinMAX qualitative data analysis software used by social scientists.  Manages the coding and does the analysis of texts.
