Welcome Weekend 2014 Schedule

Parents, use the Parents Primer to help you navigate through this transition.

Freshmen Move-In Day
8 a.m. – noon | Residence Halls
Residence Hall staff members and Foundations leaders will help you move into your new home away from home. You will also have the opportunity to have your student identification card made and pick up your parking decal.

8 a.m. – 3rd floor; Ezelle, Bacot, and New South
9 a.m. – 2nd floor; Ezelle and Bacot
10 a.m. – 1st floor; Ezelle and Bacot

Information Technology Services Rotations
1 – 4 p.m. | Olin Hall Lobby
Learn about ITS, its policies and services, including device registration, wireless and computer assistance, and available software.

Parent Send-Off
3 p.m. | Robert and Dee Leggett Events Center in the A. Boyd Campbell College Center
Enjoy refreshments, pick up information, and hear from Dr. Robert Pearigen, President, and Dr. Brit Katz, Vice President and Dean of Students

Parents Depart Campus

Meet with your Resident Assistants for your first Hall Meeting.

Foundations Group Meeting

Meet your Foundations leaders and new classmates (refer to the Foundations flyer posted on your residence hall door for your group leader names). Commuter students will be contacted directly by their Foundations leaders.

6 – 7 p.m. | Caf '
Join your Foundations group for dinner in the Cafeteria.

Freshmen Skits
8 p.m. | AC Recital Hall
Watch your Foundations Leaders perform skits that will entertain you with comedic relief about life at Millsaps.

Freshmen Carnival
8:30 – 10:30 p.m. | The Bowl

Enjoy some sweet treats, music, inflatable games, and a photo booth while getting to know your
new classmates. Free prizes!

Millsaps in Fondren Day
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Fondren
Meet at the Bell Tower and hop aboard the Fondren Express Trolley to explore all that the neighboring area of Fondren has to offer! Wear a Millsaps t-shirt and bring your student ID for discounts at local stores and restaurants.

Dr. Brit Katz, Vice President and Dean of Students, will welcome the Class of 2018. Listen to presentations by the Honor Council and Student Conduct Council student members.

Join your Foundations group to explore campus, learn about our history, and see where your classes will meet.

While most Chapel services on campus are ecumenical Christian services of worship, we also strive to provide opportunities for students of all faiths (or none) to come together and share in a time of contemplative reflection.

informational session. Learn about recruitment and our

Major Health Introduction
and Foundations Meetings

Learn more about the Major Health program before meeting with your Foundations group for a regular meeting.

Millsaps-Wilson Library Orientation

Learn more about what resources the library has to offer. Ask your Foundations leader for your orientation time.

Dr. Melissa Lea, Director of Academic Advising, will be available for last minute registration and advising questions.

Fourth Night Writing Exercise

This portion of the Fourth Night Ceremony is a time to reflect on your goals for college.

Attend the Official Welcome to the College community, sign the Major Call, and be introduced to the College President.

Student Activities Fair

Learn about the many clubs and organizations we have to offer, and how you can become involved in our campus community.



Academic Convocation*
11:30 a.m. | AC Recital Hall
Convocation marks the formal opening of the academic year. All new students must be present to sign the Honor Code.

Back-to-School Party

Join the entire student population for a back to school party with live music at a Jackson venue. Transportation will be provided.
