Responsibilities: A full time teaching load of three courses each Fall and three each Spring. Teach Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced levels in both Digital Arts and Sculpture, and Beginning Drawing. As the sole instructor for Digital Arts and Sculpture, this person will also maintain the materials and equipment in the sculpture studio, along with supervising the Digital Arts Concentration and the general upkeep of the Digital Arts computer lab. Preference will be given to candidates who are proficient with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, Adobe Premiere software for iMacs. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be skillful with wood, 3D design, video and book arts.
We are also searching for a candidate who is confident analyzing contemporary art, since critical analysis is an integral component of our art curriculum. The candidate will be expected to assist with departmental wide reviews for upper class students in both Studio Art and Art History.
Advantages: This position comes with a private on-campus faculty studio space, in addition to a faculty office. Our new Mac lab is equipped for print, web, and motion-based artwork. The sculpture studio is best suited for woodwork, general fabrication, and small-scale plaster casting, but the space is adaptable to a wide range of projects. Purple Word Center for Book and Paper Arts is located off campus and provides opportunities for community workshops, exhibitions, student internships and service learning projects for our studio art courses.
Qualifications: MFA required, areas of concentration in sculpture and digital arts. BFA or BA in Studio Art is given preference. Strong organizational skills; detail oriented. A strong desire to be an active participant in a small art department within a liberal arts environment.
