Good news! Although not completely back to normal, the water pressure on campus continues to hold. Students, faculty and staff may begin using restrooms across campus as usual; however, please email info@millsaps.edu if a toilet does not flush or if you notice any pooling of water, leaking, etc. In addition, the port-a-potties will remain on campus until we are confident they are no longer necessary.

As the City of Jackson continues to fix the situation across Hinds County, the college’s emergency management team asks that residential students and staff continue to use the following water-saving protocols:

Showers:
Students are asked to only use their usual residence hall showers between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. This assists with the water pressure across campus. The shower trailers continue to be available in the parking lot of the Academic Complex from 7:00 a.m. through 10:00 a.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. to cover the early morning and late evening times.

Laundry:
We continue to request that residential students and staff not use laundry facilities on campus but instead go to The Laundry Fairy, 1046 Greymont Street, to do their laundry free of charge. Simply take your laundry, soap and Millsaps ID between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to wash your clothes and Millsaps will pick up the tab. Students who do not have a vehicle and can’t carpool safely with another student should email studentlife@millsaps.edu to make travel arrangements.

Finally, a boil water notice is still in effect for Hinds County. Do not drink the water on campus. Drinking water, toiletries, hand sanitizer, baby wipes and snacks continue to be available on campus 24-7 near the student life front desk. Community members are reminded to bring a backpack or bag to help transport these items back to residence halls.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. The college’s emergency management team will continue to monitor the situation and will update the community as details develop. Email info@millsaps.edu with any questions. In case of an emergency call Campus Safety at 601-974-1234.
