Dear Millsaps Faculty, Staff, and Students,

We have been informed that one of our employees has tested positive for novel coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. The person tested positive on April 3, 2020, and is now self-isolating under medical supervision. The last day this individual was on the Millsaps College campus was March 17, 2020. The close contacts of this individual have been notified and asked to self-quarantine as a precaution. If you have not been made aware that you were a close contact of the impacted individual, you are not one.

Millsaps keeps medical information confidential and will only disclose it on a need-to-know basis.

We will continue to follow our workplace safety guidelines, which include proper disinfection and recommended social distancing protocols. To that end, please review these COVID-19 symptoms and monitor your health for the following:

  • Difficulty breathing
  • Rough, dry cough that hurts your chest
  • Fever of at least 100° F
  • Loss of taste or smell

Your safety is our primary concern and this email continues our commitment to that goal. To ensure the safety of our community and in keeping with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), all employees of Millsaps College (faculty and staff) must notify their supervisor of any potential exposure and/or diagnosis of COVID-19. Subsequently, supervisors must report this information to the Department of Human Resources, who will notify any co-workers of possible exposure to COVID-19 while maintaining complete confidentiality of the impacted person(s). Refer to guidance from the CDC for information on how to conduct a risk assessment of potential exposure.
