Alex Rice

I grew up in the Atlanta area, and did both my undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Georgia in Athens. Go Dawgs! I arrived at Millsaps in fall 2017 after visiting positions at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and the University of Rochester in New York. Millsaps has proven to be the perfect permanent home for me where I can balance teaching courses at all levels, conducting my own research, doing research with students, and serving the campus and community in rewarding ways, like directing the Honors Program and hosting an annual math competition for local high school students. In my spare time, I enjoy basketball; tennis; playing guitar; trivia; going to sporting events, movies and comedy shows; and spending time with my partner, Sabrina, and my beloved cat, Cauchy. Cauchy is named after a famous French mathematician, and she has been with me on my entire journey since undergrad!
