Millsaps College has announced that Harvey Fiser has been appointed interim dean of the Else School of Management. Fiser completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Mississippi State University and earned a juris doctor from Mississippi College School of Law in Jackson. He practiced law as a partner at Adams and Reese, LLP in employment and commercial litigation before joining the faculty at Millsaps in 2003. He currently holds the Selby and Richard McRae Chair of Business Administration as a professor of business law. As a scholar, Fiser has published in the areas of employment law, family law, and neuroscience and the law.
“Harvey brings a wealth of experience, passion and commitment to his new role,” says Millsaps Provost Keith Dunn. “He has been a leader in our international education programs, particularly in Yucatan. Known for his innovative teaching, he has served the college and our students in more ways than I could list.”
Fiser also oversees the college’s Mock Trial team, which has grown to be one of the largest and most competitive programs in the southeast. Preparing in its own historic mock trial courtroom on campus, Fiser has led the team to top rankings in regional and national competitions.
Fiser is firmly committed to the people and programs at Millsaps.
“I left a partnership at a law firm to join the Millsaps faculty, and I have never looked back,” Fiser said. “This vocation allows me to be who I am and to meet students where they are. Our minds meet to analyze a challenge and, in that work, we all learn. It’s an extraordinary adventure.”
Fiser will fill the vacancy left by Dr. Kim Burke, former dean of the Else School, who has accepted a position as dean of the Meredith College School of Business in Raleigh, North Carolina.
