The Center for Career Education is dedicated to the career and professional development of all Millsaps students, and is the primary contact for employers seeking to provide career and professional development opportunities. We connect students with relevant resources and equip them with the knowledge and tools to explore majors, make career decisions and seek post-graduate opportunities. We recognize that faculty and staff are vital partners in each student’s career and professional success.
The Center for Career Education can help organize, facilitate, or present on any such topics. We invite opportunities for collaboration in preparing Millsaps students for career success:
- Coordinating a panel of alumni and other professionals working in a specific industry
- Hosting representatives from graduate and professional school programs in a particular discipline
- Facilitating workshops to practice articulating students’ experience through the development of resumes, personal statements, or other self-marketing materials
- Guiding students through exploring strengths and interests to make informed career decisions
- Exploring and implementing strategies to infuse the NACE Career Readiness Competencies in curricular and co-curricular programs and activities
Classroom Presentations
The Center for Career Education has a wide range of topics and activities for classroom presentations. Our staff is available to speak to your classes during the semester. In order to provide you and your students with the best services possible, please send in any presentation requests at least two weeks in advance.
Don’t Cancel Class: If you will not be available to teach a class, consider inviting us to present on a topic of your choice in your absence rather than canceling class.
If you have any questions, please contact us at careereducation@millsaps.edu.
Refer a Student
Our staff is readily available to speak with students while exploring career options. Encourage your students to visit the Center for Career Education for an appointment to learn about the many ways we can help.
Refer an Employer
We encourage you to refer employers to the Center for Career Education or contact us with the names and contact information of any employer that has an interest in recruiting Millsaps students.
On-Campus Student Employment
On-campus employment is often an early way students engage with the world of work. As supervisors of student-employees, faculty and staff provide important career and professional development experiences for students and can contribute richly to a student’s long-term career success.
On-Campus Job Postings
All On-Campus Student Employment should be entered in Major Careers (Symplicity) to provide equitable, centralized access for all students seeking on-campus employment and to provide on-campus positions the most visibility possible.
Prior to hiring Student Employees, review the On Campus Student Employment HR Procedures for step-by-step instructions and tips for completing Student Employment onboarding.
Major Careers
All on-campus supervisors should create an account in Major Careers under the Millsaps College employer profile. If you are a new user (first-time registrant), please read the On Campus Contact Registration instructions for creating your account.
Returning users, click here to access Major Careers—please use the Forgot Password link if you cannot remember your password or have trouble accessing Major Careers.
NOTE: The employer login page is different from that for students. Students should login to Major Careers.
