The Millsaps College Library seeks an Associate College Librarian responsible for providing leadership in the library and excellent public service to the campus community. Responsibilities and duties include library instruction, reference services, outreach, social media engagement, managing technology, managing library student workers, managing the Archives, and assisting the College Librarian with the supervision of library staff.
This professional position reports to the College Librarian and works closely with all library staff. All librarians serve at the reference desk one night per week and rotate weekends and other times as needed. Librarians at Millsaps College have twelve-month appointments, faculty rank and titles, but are not tenured. The position is full-time benefits eligible with TIAA-CREF and partially paid health insurance. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The library has 4 professional librarians and 1 staff member serving a college population of approximately 1,000 students, faculty, and staff. The collection contains over 200,000 print volumes, a wide variety of online resources, the College Archives and the Mississippi United Methodist Archives, and a number of special collections. - Master’s degree in library or information science from a program accredited by the American Library Association
- 5 years of experience as a professional librarian
- Demonstrated successful supervisory experience
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
- Excellent public service attitude with the ability to provide leadership in a small, close-knit environment with library staff, faculty, and students
