The Mathematics Department at Millsaps College invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning Fall 2024. The successful candidate will teach six (6) courses per academic year including both upper-level mathematics and contributions to the college’s general education program.
Millsaps faculty members are teacher-scholars; we seek innovative, resourceful, dedicated candidates who are eager to teach the increasingly diverse student body at Millsaps, as well as develop a research agenda that complements activities in the classroom. Candidates with experience or expertise in data science or statistics are particularly encouraged to apply, but all research specialties in pure or applied mathematics will be given full consideration. Support for research development and travel, for both faculty and students, is available.
Basic Qualifications
- Ph.D. in mathematics or applied mathematics required by the start of the appointment
- Passion and effectiveness in teaching, achievement and potential as a scholar
- Capability in working with students in undergraduate mathematics research
- Familiarity with and commitment to inclusive pedagogy, diversity and equity
