A Message from Dr. Rob Pearigen, July 2, 2010
Dear Millsaps community and friends,
July 1st marked my first day as president of Millsaps College, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience. My first day included lunch with the Student Body Association president, conversations about academic programs with the dean of the College, meetings with senior staff members to map out the course of our first few weeks together, and a reception with faculty and staff at the College's new home for the president.
As we begin our journey together, I would like you to know how enthusiastic I am to be at Millsaps, a college of notable history, academic excellence and great promise. It will be my pleasure to help Millsaps capitalize upon the opportunities for the College to be a nationally-recognized leader in distinctive areas of excellence where the College already possesses great strengths.
I would like to express my thanks to all who have had a part in Phoebe's and my transition to Millsaps College. Your warm welcome to my family has been without a doubt extraordinary. I'm especially grateful for the support of Howard McMillan and for his leadership as acting president during the past year.
I appreciate the privilege of serving as Millsaps' eleventh president. I look forward to working with our trustees, faculty, staff, and students on campus, and our alumni and friends throughout the country to advance the mission and vision of this great institution.
