Audio Program to accompany Basic and Intermediate level language courses
For 1000, 1010, 2000 and 2110 level courses, there are audio programs in the lab that serve as supplements to the textbooks utilized in class. Most are preloaded on our computers; the rest are available on CD for checkout. Please ask the Language Lab Assistant if you have questions about how to access the materials you need for class.
The Language Resource Center has a wide assortment of VHS tapes and DVDs with movies, documentaries and television shows for students to watch in order to improve language proficiency and cultural understanding. Our materials are in the Millsaps Library catalog.
To view listings and descriptions of available materials, go to http://library.millsaps.edu/. Click on the "Millsaps Library Catalog" Link to access the Catalog Power Search page. Select "Language Lab/Murrah Hall Annex" from the "Location" pull-down menu on the lower right-hand corner of the screen. Enter your criteria in the Power Search section and click the "Search" button.
The Modern Languages department provides French TV5 Monde and the Dish Latino service (which includes but is not limited to Telemundo, Univision, and CNN en Espanol) in the Language Laboratory and our classrooms on the third floor of MHA.
Our 22 PCs and 4 MACs have French, Spanish and Ancient Languages programs loaded for student use, and are connected to the Internet. When using the lab computers, standard Millsaps network usage rules still apply. Please refer to the Network Ethics Policy for more information.
