A native of Clinton, Mississippi, Carol Durham holds the Bachelor of Music Degree in organ from Mississippi College, the Master of Music in organ from The University of Tennessee at Knoxville and has done additional graduate study in piano there. She is organist at Morrison Heights Baptist Church in Clinton, where she also directs a children's choir and a ladies' ensemble. In the past she has been organist at the Grace Lutheran Church in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, First Baptist Church of Auburn, Alabama, and First United Methodist Church in Raymond, Mississippi.
Mrs. Durham maintains a piano studio in Clinton and also teaches in an adjunct role at Mississippi College (piano) and Belhaven (organ). During her years at U. T., she had a teaching fellowship, was an adjunct organ instructor and assistant music librarian. In her sixteen years as staff accompanist at Mississippi College she accompanied many vocal and instrumental performances. Also a harpsichordist, she has accompanied and given a number of programs on her Hubbard French double instrument.
Active in professional music circles, Mrs. Durham is a past Dean of the Jackson Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. She is continuing as Chairman for the Bach Festival which is sponsored by the Music Forum of Jackson; in the past she has been chairman of the Sonatina Festival, Area Auditions Chair for the Mississippi Music Teachers' Association, has served as Festival Leader for several Mississippi Baptist Area Keyboard Festivals and frequently serves as an adjudicator for such events. She is a member of the MacDowell Music Club and of Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity.
She is married to Dr. J. David Durham; they have two daughters, one son and three granddaughters.
