EDINBURG,
Texas -- Even
though it is still the regular season, you can feel the
playoff atmosphere between
the San Angelo Colts and the Edinburg Coyotes. Credit
the Coyotes 4-1 victory to good situational hitting,
as they left only four men on base Saturday after
leaving
13 men on base on Friday.
After a scoreless first four innings and what seemed
to be a pitchers duel, Edinburg would explode for three
runs on three hits in the bottom of the fifth. San Angelo
would fight back in the top of the fourth when J. J.
Sherrill doubled to left field scoring Jason Crosland.
The one Colt run in the sixth would be matched in the
bottom half of the inning when Eddie Lara scored off
of an Abigail Sandoval single.
John
Fox (2-3, 6.59 ERA) would pick up his second win of
the season, pitching six innings and allowing only
one earned run. The rookie has appeared in nine games
on
the
season, receiving the starting nod in seven. Fox is
holding opponents to a .288 average, tossing 39 strikeouts
in 42.2 innings of work.
Colts starter Yorkin
Ferreras (4-6) would take the
loss after
giving
up the three runs in the fifth. Kelly Casares would come
on again in the ninth to pick up save number seven.
Game
time is set for 7:05 on Sunday as Frank James (2-2)
of the Colts takes on Edinburg probable Eric Montoya
(10-5).
