SUWANEE,
Ga. -- Andy Morrison of Southwestern University,
a 6-1, 210-pound senior right-hander from Austin, Texas, and
Brent Buffa of Millsaps College, a 6-0, 200-pound senior right-hander
from St. Louis, Mo., have been selected the SCAC Baseball Co-Pitchers-of-the-Week
for games played from Monday, April 9 through Sunday, April
15.
Morrison went the distance for the Pirates in the Friday game
against Trinity, shutting out the Tigers in SU's 7-0 win. He did
not allow a single runner past second base in nine innings and
struck out six while scattering six hits (five of them were singles).
It was Morrison's first complete game shutout of the season and
his seventh complete game of the year.
Morrison improved
his overall record to 7-4 (tied for third in the SCAC in wins)
and lowered his ERA from 4.73 to 4.15 (15th in
the SCAC). He has struck out 47 batters this season (seventh in
the SCAC) in 73.2 innings of work (third in the SCAC). 
Buffa, in two appearances on the week which included one start,
surrendered no runs and only four hits while scattering six strikeouts
against only one walk.
The senior transfer tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout in
a 13-0 win over Hendrix in Game 2 of a weekend series in which
the Majors earned a weekend sweep - just three days after tossing
one inning in relief in a 20-4 win over Louisiana College in which
he struck out three.
Buffa held opponents to a .148 batting average on the week while
posting a 1-0 record and improving his ERA to a 2.34 (third in
the SCAC). His record on the season now stands at 6-2 (tied for
sixth in wins in the SCAC).
