SEWANEE, Tenn. — The Millsaps Majors defeated DePauw University by a final score of 7-1 in the first round of the SCAC Baseball Tournament at the University of the South. Millsaps now advances to play Rhodes College tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. The Majors beat the Lynx in 3 out of 5 meeting this season in SCAC West Division play.

The Majors put up the bulk of their runs in the middle innings. In the bottom of the fourth the Majors managed two runs – one off a Hunter Abrams RBI single and the other on a Derrik Boland RBI ground out.

In the bottom of the fifth the Majors tacked on four runs on six hits, bringing their run total to seven.

Senior right hander John Fox (8-0) earned the win today. Fox pitched eight innings, scattered seven hits giving up only earned run. Fox struck out six batters and walked two.

Designated hitter Derrik Boland was 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 RBI. First basemen Luke Morrow was 3 for 4 with one RBI.
