JACKSON, Miss. — In their second non-conference match up of the week, the Majors took on Rust College at Twenty Field on Thurs., March 9. The Majors remained dominate throughout the contest, picking up another easy victory by a final score of 16-4. The victory brings the Majors season record to 12-3.
Rust opened the top of the first by scoring one run on Major pitcher David Hutzel, a solo home run to center field. The Majors answered Rust in the bottom of the first as Nick Crawford, Justin Carter and Garner Wetzel all scored to bring the score to 3-1.
Throughout the remainder of the game, Millsaps continued to score fervently. Seven Majors had at least one RBI in the afternoon. Nine different Majors had hits, and eleven scored runs. Shortstop Justin Carter had one hit and three runs in his three at bats for the day. Luke Morrow had two hits, two runs and two RBIs in his three at bats.
The Majors finished the day by winning 16-5 over Rust. Jay Hollenbeck (1-0) earned the win for the Majors, his first of the season. The Majors will step back into conference play with a 2-game series this weekend at Rhodes.
