SAN ANTONIO, Tex. — The Majors completed their three game weekend at Trinity University on Sunday by falling to the Trinity Tigers by a score of 4-2. Sunday’s loss gave the Majors a 2-1 edge for the weekend series.
In Sunday’s contest, the Majors, following in their Saturday fashion were able to get their men on base. However, they were unable to bring them home, leaving two men on in the first, three men on in the second and two in the third to begin the game. Millsaps had four hits in the first three innings but no runs to show for their effort.
Trinity, on the other hand, scored to begin the game, off of a throwing error by Millsaps catcher Nicky Prather. The Tigers did not score again until the fourth inning, scoring off of a wild pitch, for their second unearned run of the game and off of a Trinity single.
The Majors struggled to produce any offense off of the Tigers in the fourth and fifth innings, but in the sixth, Millsaps came alive with three hits, scoring two players – Hunter Abrams and Luke Morrow, making the score 3-2, Trinity.
The Tigers answered Millsaps immediately, scoring another run in the sixth inning, garnering a 4-2 lead which they held throughout the remainder of the contest.
Tal Hendrix took the loss for the Majors. It brings the Majors record to 5-3 (3-2).
Millsaps will next face Huntingdon College on March 1.
