All 15 Majors Dressed Out Score in a 103-67 Rout of the 'Roos
Millsaps completes 4-game homestand sweep to move to 19-3 overall

February 10, 2008

JACKSON – All 15 players dressed out for Millsaps got in the scoring column and the trio of guards in Chad Songy, Blake Martinez and Lorenzo Bailey shot a combined 9-of-15 from 3-point land to pace the Majors from beyond the arc in a lopsided 103-67 win over Austin College at the Hangar Dome on Sunday afternoon.

Millsaps (19-3, 10-2 SCAC West), who owns the top assist/turnover ratio in the conference and fourth-best in the country, picked up a season-high 30 assists on the day against just eight turnovers while also shooting a blistering 60 percent from the floor as a team.

They knocked down 14 3-pointers on the afternoon to hit the double digit mark in 3s made for the seventh time this season, while extending their consecutive game streak with a 3-pointer made out to 422 games – the third-longest active streak in all of Division III.

The Majors trailed a majority of the opening five minutes, down 14-11 at the 14:46 mark in the opening period, before throwing together a 14-5 run capped off by a layup from Chris Sanders to take a 25-19 lead.

From there, Millsaps never trailed the remainder of the contest and turned what was a 10-point halftime lead, 46-36, into a 36-point win, outscoring the 'Roos 57-31 in the second period on 62 percent shooting from the floor and holding them to 0-for-10 from the arc.

Allen Odum tied a career-high with eight assists against no turnovers, giving him 14 assists on the weekend and not a single turnover, while four Majors reached double figures led by Edrick Montgomery with 21, Rodney Rogan with 15, Bailey with 14 and Songy with 10.

Montgomery, who knocked down a perfect 10-of-10 field goal attempts, tied the second best field goal shooting game in SCAC history behind Andrew Tulowitsky (11-for-11 in '07) of Oglethorpe and Jonathan Jarrett of Sewanee (10-for-10 in 2000). He also finished with four blocks on the day to stay at second in the league (44) while giving him 100 for his three-year career, just two behind Torrance Shelton for third all-time in Millsaps history.

Austin College (7-15, 4-8 SCAC) was led by Chris Sturtevant with 20 points on 8-of-12 aim, followed by Arron Mewborn with 11 points and four rebounds off the bench.

Millsaps will hit the road on Thursday for an important two-game road swing at Trinity University and Southwestern University, facing off with the TU Tigers on Friday night and the other Tigers on Sunday afternoon. Both games went down to the wire last year on the road.
