Millsaps Earns No. 6 Ranking in Final D3hoops.com Poll
Elite Eight appearance best in school history along with 28-4 mark

March 25, 2008

STERLING, Va. The preseason No. 1 team in the D3hoops.com Top 25 is the postseason No. 1 team as well, as Washington U. won the Division III men's basketball national championship, defeating preseason and postseason No. 2 Amherst 90-68 in the championship game.

It was the second year in a row that the preseason No. 1 team played for the title, following Virginia Wesleyan's trip back to the title game in 2006-07. Washington U. was the third-place finisher in last year's NCAA Tournament.

Brandeis, which was the only team to beat both Wash U and Amherst this season, ranks fourth after falling to Amherst in the Elite Eight.

Millsaps, which finished with its best record in school history at 28-4 and advanced to the Elite Eight for the first time, ranks sixth after falling to the eventual national champions.
