The Millsaps College Majors were defeated by Birmingham Southern
on Dec. 19 by a score of 86-58, bringing the Majors record to 5-4.
Birmingham Southern came out strong against Millsaps, immediately
taking the advantage, but the Majors fought back, tying the game
and eventually taking the lead five minutes into the contest. The
remainder of the half was a close, hard fought battle, until Birmingham
Southern began to pull away from the Majors with five minutes to
play. At halftime the team had a 46-34 lead over Millsaps.
In the second half, Birmingham Southern came out shooting and
never looked back, quickly bringing their lead to a 58-38, twenty
point advantage. The Majors struggled offensively and defensively
throughout the contest, unable to compete with the Division I opponent.
For the Majors, Lorenzo Bailey and Rodney Rogan led the team with
14 points apiece. Tyler Warren contributed to their effort with
13 points. The team struggled in rebounds, with only 21 during
the game. Rodney Rogan led the team with 6.
The Majors are now able to break for the holiday season. They
will resume play on Jan. 3 at Oglethorpe University.
