Lady Majors struggle against DePauw
(Ashley Wilbourn)
In their first game since beginning classes for the spring term, the Lady Majors faced DePauw University. The 15-1 (5-0) Lady Tigers proved to be too much for Millsaps to handle, as the SCAC opponent defeated Millsaps at home, 76-47.
Millsaps was able to keep the ballgame close throughout the opening moments of the first half. With 10:47 left to play in the half, DePauw held a slight one-point advantage over the home team. From that point on, however, DePauw held a strong lead in the game. By the end of the half, the score was 32-17.
In the second half, Millsaps found it to be too hard of a task to catch up to the Lady Tigers. As DePauw shot over 50 percent in the second half, Millsaps managed only 42.9, not enough to knock off the conference leading team.
The loss brings the Lady Majors’ record to 6-10 (1-5). Lindsay Alderman led the Lady Majors in the losing effort, scoring 11 points. The team will next face Rose-Hulman on Sun. Jan. 22.
