CAMARILLO,
Calif. – After
finishing the 2007 campaign with an overall record of 8-2 and
improving its win total by a game
and rating by 14.85 points, Millsaps has been named the 18th
most improved team in Division III football by Somis Sports.
Millsaps
went from 2-8 in 2005 to 7-4 back in 2006, earning them the
5th most improved team by the same website. In Mike DuBose's
first year as head coach, the Majors made their first NCAA
Tournament berth in 31 years before
losing
to Carnegie Mellon, 21-0, in the opening round on the road.
In the same release from the 50 most improved football teams
in all of college football, Millsaps was also included on the
list and landed at the No. 46 spot.
Somis compared
each team's final 2007 rating to its final 2006 rating and
also made
additional adjustments to slightly favor teams that had better 2006 ratings. A
team's rating roughly equates to net points (pts scored minus pts
against). Here are the most improved Division III teams during
the 2007 and
2006 seasons.
