IRVING,
Texas -- In recognition of his outstanding accomplishments
in the classroom and on the playing field, senior wide receiver
Josh Hanna has been inducted into the inaugural class of
the National Football Foundation’s National Honor Society
by the president and chief executive officer Steven J. Hatchell.
For 60 years, the NFF has honored the best and brightest
that intercollegiate football has to offer. This exciting
new initiative will allow the foundation to honor more scholar-athletes
than ever before, with this year’s inaugural class
made up of 348 players from 195 schools.
A native of Booneville and the son of Bud Hanna and Kathy
Detzler, Hanna spent all four seasons with Millsaps, three
at wide receiver and one at defensive back, including starting
in every game of his career.
A four-time
selection to the All-SCAC Team, Hanna averaged 14.6 yards-per-catch,
hauling in 58 catches for 847 yards and six
career touchdowns, including leading the team in receiving yardage
and TDs his freshman year.
He also has
10 career punt returns for 64 yards and 30 kick returns,
where he averaged a little less than 21 yards-per-return.
At defensive back in 2005, Hanna recorded 24 tackles (17 solo),
two INTs and five pass break-ups.
A chemistry
major with a 3.5 GPA and a member of Student Affiliates of
the American Chemistry Society and vice president of Kappa
Sigma Fraternity, Hanna will begin graduate school at the University
of Southern Mississippi in the fall of 2007 where he ultimately
hopes to pursue a career in medicine.
