Joseph, Kline Sweep SCAC Player of the Week Honors
Millsaps to host Birmingham-Southern on Saturday at 1 p.m. in its home finale

November 6, 2007

SUWANEE, Ga. – For the second time this season and the fourth time in the past two seasons, Millsaps has swept the SCAC Football Player of the Week awards with junior quarterback Juan Joseph being named Offensive Player of the Week and senior safety Ray Kline earning Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Joseph threw for 346 yards and five touchdowns on 27-of-40 passing to add to his Millsaps career-leading total of 52 TDs and also rushed three times for 19 yards and a score to help the Majors to a 68-6 bounce back win at Colorado College on Saturday.

The nation’s fourth-ranked passer earned his third career 5-TD game in two seasons as a starter, hooking up with double-digit receivers for the fifth time in six games and throwing TD passes to four different receivers.

On the season, Joseph has thrown for 28 TDs against just five interceptions while completing 234-of-363 passes for 2,610 yards. He has also broken three Millsaps single-game records and six single-season records with one regular season game remaining at home.

Kline picked up seven tackles, four pass breakups, a tackle-for-loss and a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown to pace a Millsaps defense that forced six turnovers in their fifth-straight road win.

The senior picked up his first career interception return for a touchdown and third of the season to become the second Major to run an interception back for a score this season (Marcus Harris).

Kline is currently tied for first in the league in passes defended with 14 and ranks second on the team with three interceptions. He also ranks fourth on the team with 36 tackles (23 solo) to go along with a forced fumble.
