JACKSON --
For the second time in a span of four months, over
40 National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League
(CFL) scouts
will be eyeing prospective candidates for professional contracts
at Harper Davis Field on the campus of Millsaps College.
Millsaps, who played host to the New Orleans Saints training
camp in August, will once again be a gathering point for scouts,
this
time hosting the week-long practices for the Magnolia Grid-Iron
Classic which will be played at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday,
Dec. 23, at 12 p.m.
The Magnolia Grid-Iron Classic is an innovative game concept that
will allow prospects from Division I-A programs to participate
in a contest against a small school roster comprised of Division
I-AA, Division II and other players. It gives many non-bowl game
seniors and smaller school players a final game to impress NFL
teams.
First Team all-America and all-south region selection Chris Jackson
lands on this year’s roster, after helping lead the Majors
to their first playoff berth in 31 years and first conference championship
in 10 years.
Practices started Monday morning and will continue through Thursday,
Dec. 21, on the Millsaps campus.
