FLOWOOD – Sophomore
Jerry Johnston carded a round of 82 with 13 pars to medal for
Millsaps and pace the Majors to a fifth place finish in their
first event
of the fall season, the Mississippi College Invitational at Patrick
Farms GC.
MC's Dustin
Lunceford shot a 2-under 70 to finish first overall as the host
Choctaws won by a combined 10 strokes over second place Meridian
CC. East Mississippi CC (314), Louisiana College (321), Millsaps
(340) and Tougaloo followed in the final four spots.
Six Majors
shot in the 80's, including Johnston's 82, with Jack Rader
and Gabe Aguilar each firing an 84, Adam Haywood carding
an 86 and Zach Davis and Madison Field each shooting an 88.
The Majors'
next event of the fall season will take place next weekend, Sept.
20-21, at Tunica National in the Rhodes College Classic. The
two-day tournament tees off on Saturday and will conclude on
Sunday.
