CLEVELAND - The
Millsaps men’s golf team wrapped up its final event of the
fall season this past weekend at the Derrall Foreman Invitational
in Cleveland, firing a two-day score of 628 to finish in 17th place
out of 22 teams.
After ideal weather conditions on Day 1, Millsaps was able to shoot
a combined score of 310 which was good enough for a ninth place
finish after the first round of action.
Jack Rader led the way for the Majors after the first day, firing
a 73 to finish in a four-way tie for fifth place heading into the
final round. Other scores after Day 1 were Drew McDowell (76),
Chad Tobler (77), Michael Ameen (84) and Daniel Rice (86).
Unfortunately for Millsaps, Day 2 was a different story. As the
wind on the coast picked up a little, the Majors and several other
teams dropped important shots that caused them spots in the final
standings.
Millsaps fell from a combined score of 310 on Day 1 to a 318 on
Day 2. The eight shot difference proved costly, as the Majors slipped
from
ninth to finish 17th overall.
Rader and Tobler finished in a 40th place tie out of 110 golfers,
while McDowell rounded out the top 55 with a 54th place finish
after firing an 80 during the final round.
