Tigers Nip Majors in Double-Overtime Thriller, 3-2
Own goal in the 104th minute sends Millsaps to third-straight loss

September 28, 2007

JACKSON -- In Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Friday afternoon at Harper Davis Field, junior forward Todd Schneck tied the game at 2-2 in the 85th minute to send the game into overtime before an own goal in the 104th minute allowed the visitors from Colorado College to celebrate their sixth-straight win by a 3-2 margin.

Corey Beaumont gave the Majors an early 1-0 lead that they would hold through halftime, scoring his first goal of the season in the 25th minute on a ball from Schneck.

Known primarily as a second-half team, Colorado College found the back of the net twice in a span of 42 seconds in the 54th and 55th minute, using Trevor Cobb's sixth goal of the year to tie the game and Chris Ellis' first of the year for a quick 2-1 lead.

The Tigers held the lead until the 85th minute when Schneck fired a rebound shot off a save from keeper Andy McGhie that found the back of the net to send the game to overtime. Colin Thompson picked up the assist for his first point of the season.

After a scoreless 10 minute overtime period -- the first of two -- Colorado College crossed a ball in front of the net in the 104th minute where a Major defender tried to make the clear and accidentally knocked it in for an "own goal."

The loss for Millsaps (2-6, 0-3 SCAC) was its third in a row to open the SCAC season while the Tigers improved to 7-2 and 2-0 in the league.

Millsaps will continue conference action Sunday, playing host to Austin College at 1 p.m.
