Majors Turn Back Warriors on Senior Day, 3-2
Milner, Smith, Groglio treated to final home win at Harper Davis Field

October 29, 2007

JACKSON – Sophomore midfielder Andres Colocho picked up five points on the afternoon, including the game-winning assist to teammate Todd Schneck in the 75th minute, as Millsaps bounced back from a double overtime loss on Friday to top Hendrix 3-2.

The win for Millsaps (4-11, 2-6 SCAC) was its second in league play in five games, the first time the Majors have won more than one game in the SCAC since 1999.

Things didn't look promising early as Hendrix's Alexander Ragula gave the visitors a 1-0 lead just 4:13 into the match after a defensive lapse from the Majors. Senior forward Sam Freyaldenhoven was credited with the assist after sending the ball inside the 18.

Millsaps, however, picked up the equalizer in the 44th minute off Colocho's first goal of the afternoon, using Phil Guillot's first career assist, to gain momentum heading into the half.

A well executed corner kick from sophomore Colin Thompson in the 58th minute gave the Majors their first lead of the match at 2-1, as Colocho headed the ball into the back of the net from about two feet off the ground past keeper Jon Moore.

Millsaps stretched its lead to 3-1 in the 75th minute after a streaking Colocho found Schneck inside the far right wing of the Warriors' box, blasting the ball past Moore in the right hand corner of the box for his team-tying third goal of the year.

Hendrix (2-14, 0-8 SCAC) added a late goal from Mackenzie Barnes in the 90th minute to make the final margin 3-2, firing a shot from the right wing to the far left post.

The Majors wrap up the regular season at Sewanee and Oglethorpe this weekend.
