STARKVILLE – After
a successful freshman campaign in which she garnered several postseason
awards on the diamond including First Team All-SCAC and NFCA First
Team All-Atlantic Region, sophomore Jennifer McKinley picked up her
first award off the playing field, being named an All-America Scholar
Athlete by NFCA. 
A member of Phi Eta Sigma Honorary and a biology Major at Millsaps,
McKinley posted a 4.0 GPA in the fall and a 3.75 GPA in the spring
to qualify for the yearly accolade.
The Frisco, Texas, native posted solid numbers in her
first season, tying for first in the SCAC in doubles (13) while ranking
second
in home runs (6) and total bases (81) and third in batting
average (.417) and hits (50).
She also recorded 16 multi-hit and nine
multi-RBI games, held a season-long 11-game hit streak and only struck
out six times in 120 at-bats.
Athletes who achieve a 3.5 or better GPA on a 4.0 scale are recognized
as NFCA Scholar Athletes. The NFCA recognizes the top ten academic
teams (by overall GPA) each fall through its Academic Top Ten program.
