Our Location:

The Writing Center is located in John Stone Hall, the two-story frame house just south of the Christian Center.

Our Purpose:

The Writing Center is here to meet the needs of Millsaps students and faculty. To this end, we offer diverse support services to any writer at any stage of the writing process.

Our Services:

Peer tutors and faculty offer students several services, daily, including the following:

• Instruction on Topic Selection and Focusing

• Coaching on Organizational Strategies

• Suggestions for Editing and Revising

• Tutoring on Grammar and Mechanics

In addition, we will offer workshops throughout the academic year on these and other topics as needed:

• writing research papers

• taking essay exams

• preparing for the written portions of standardized tests

• writing self-assessments

• developing the Writing Portfolio

• writing in various occupations
