Immersed in Meaning

Boston Seminar
Dates: May 4-10, 2007

Boston. . . a place of fierce loyalty and courageous independence. A good place to go to think about our connections to others and our response. We're going to take a close look at health care and work with agencies that serve people who are sick and hungry. We'll learn about what Massachusetts has done to share the social costs of health care and expand insurance coverage to all. We'll also take time to reflect and look ahead. While we're doing all that, we'll be having a great time with good friends. Come along!

Here's the information that is currently available. The itinerary is tentative, but check back for updates as the trip unfolds.

Delta Delivery is a Spring Break mission trip to the Mississippi Delta. The trip provides students with an opportunity to serve, get to know some good folks in the Delta, learn about the history of the Delta and the birth of the blues, and have a good time.

This trip is organized and sponsored by the Campus Ministry Team and the Faith & Work Initiative.

San Francisco Seminar 2005

It was a wonderful time in a beautiful city. Through service at St. Anthony's Foundation and Glide Memorial, UMC, we were all reminded of the words of St. Francis, "it is in giving that you receive."

Living History: A Journey Through the Civil Rights Movement
It's our history. Regardless of where you're from, the Civil Rights movement is our history. It changed the country and the world, but it happened right here. Take a road trip with this one-hour course that will take you to the places where ordinary people made history. We will speak with many people whose lives are our legacy and reflect upon where our history leads.

The trip in January 2003 was a great success and provided students an opportunity to immerse themselves in a breadth of learning about the people, the social action, and the social needs that shaped the Civil Rights Movement and how they continue to be with us today.

New York Seminar 2003

The New York Seminar in 2003 was a memorable experience. Here's one comment from a student that says it all: "Words can't describe the impact that this trip has had on my life. Being able to combine faith and work with the lasting desire for reconciliation among others is an idea that has contributed to a spark of hope that love and understanding are still prevalent."
