Windows - The systems that are offered on the Millsaps
Dell site are current systems designed to last the duration of your tenure
at Millsaps. The computers come with Vista preinstalled, as all new PCs
do after Microsoft’s decision to discontinue Windows XP, and are
built with that in mind. The intent of the Millsaps Dell site is to provide
students with viable computer options that will last the duration of their
Millsaps tenure with minimal upgrades and repairs.
If you have questions about the systems, we recommend
that you speak directly with a Dell representative.
Dell reps are available to assist students and their
families with personal purchases and are capable
of offering better ideas and advice on what to purchase
from their catalogue based on your specific needs.

Also, please keep in mind that Millsaps College
provides anti-virus software and the Microsoft
Office 2007 Suite upon students’ arrival
in the fall, so there is no need to purchase this
software prior to moving in. However, if students
intend to use their computers online before coming
to campus, we highly recommend acquiring anti-virus
protection; you may want to consider getting a
short-term subscription from services such as McAfee.
