In their final concert of the season, The Millsaps Singers will present Carl Orff’s wildly popular “Carmina Burana” on Friday, April 25. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Ford Academic Complex on campus, and admission is free and open to the public. $5 donations will be accepted at the door.
The original “Carmina Burana” was a manuscript collection, found in 1803 in a Bavarian monastery. It consists of 228 poems compiled by different scribes in the early 13th century. Between 1935 and 1936, German composer Carl Orff set 24 of the poems to new music, which Millsaps’ 70-voice stage choir will present in their concert.
