Kimberly Morgan, Miss Mississippi 2007, will speak about increasing children’s literacy through music on Friday, February 22, at Millsaps College. The program will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Ford Academic Complex Room 215. Admission is free.
Morgan is a graduate of Alcorn State University and is the second African American to hold the Miss Mississippi title. Morgan was a Top 16 semi-finalist at the 2008 Miss America pageant. The music teacher and accomplished singer is promoting her platform Golden Opportunity Toward Music Increasing Literacy in Kids program. The goal of G.O.T.M.I.L.K. is to enhance children’s proficiency in reading and mathematical skills through music.
