(10/09/08)

Colleges of DistinctionThe Else School of Management at Millsaps College has been named an outstanding business school and ranked No. 3 in the country for “Best Classroom Experience” by the Princeton Review’s 2009 edition of “Best 296 Business Schools.”

The Princeton Review, known for its college rankings based on how students rate their schools, compiled the list based on 19,000 student surveys and school-reported data. This is the second consecutive year for Millsaps to be ranked No. 3 in the country for “Best Classroom Experience.”

Millsaps College students surveyed in the book agreed that the Else School of Management provided solid preparation in teamwork, communication and interpersonal skills and presentation skills.

“Our Else School of Management focuses on creating big-picture leaders with the skills to succeed in today’s challenging and changing business environments,” said Dr. Frances Lucas, president of Millsaps College.

The Charles W. Else and Eloise T. Else School of Management offers both a master of business administration and a master of accountancy. The school has seen a recent increase in enrollment with 111 graduates in the fall of 2007 compared to 50 three years earlier.

“Our talented faculty are men and women at the forefront of their respective fields of practice as well as in the classroom—a critical qualification for those teaching tomorrow’s business and community leaders,” said Howard McMillan, dean of the Else School of Management.

Princeton Review editors describe the school as “reflecting the spirit and friendliness of the Millsaps undergraduate institution, the Else School of Management at Millsaps College offers a rigorous MBA program in a refreshing intimate atmosphere.” They also quote students attending the school who say “they prepare us for the real world, not just the academics” and that professors “really love teaching and their students.”
