Marketing Expert John Moore to Speak at Else Forum

Marketing expert John Moore is scheduled to share advice about how any business can become endearing and enduring no matter the economic climate on March 31 at 8:30 a.m. in the Leggett Center at Millsaps College.
Moore is the featured speaker for the Millsaps College Else School of Management’s spring forum. Moore will speak on “Caveat Marketer: Growing a Brand During Turbulent Times.”

Moore worked inside the marketing departments of Starbucks Coffee and Whole Foods Market from 1994 until 2004, and he focused his teams on using the influential power of customers as the advertising vehicle. He launched the Austin, Texas-based marketing firm, Brand Autopsy, in 2005. Moore’s book Tribal Knowledge shares insights into how a business can follow the Starbucks blueprint to build a business.

“No matter how you look at it, these are difficult times for businesses,” Moore said. “Premium-priced brands and low-priced brands have been thrown off-balance from the intense winds of this economic downturn. To survive and grow, businesses must transcend the commoditization trap and become indispensable, irreplaceable.”

Jack Garner, president of the Ramey Agency in Jackson and forum sponsor, agrees with Moore’s philosophy.  “In today’s economy, too many business executives are looking for a safe harbor when they should be looking for opportunity. As a brand strategy/marketing communications company, we know that our well-positioned clients actually thrive in challenging times. That’s whey we’re proud to help sponsor this event – at this moment, it’s the one conversation you can’t afford to miss.”

Doors will open at 7:45 a.m., and the program will begin at 8:30 a.m. The cost is $15 per person and includes breakfast. Reservations are recommended. Contact Noami Freeman: 601-974-1254 or freemng@millsaps.edu.

Other sponsors of the Else Forum include Cellular South Foundation, Sun Ray Companies, and TEC.
