MILLSAPS COLLEGE PROFESSORS KRISTEN BROWN AND GREG MILLER AUTHOR NEW BOOKS

(8/10/06)

The State University of New York Press has published Dr. Kristen Brown’s book Nietzsche and Embodiment: Discerning Bodies and Non-Dualism. Brown is a professor of philosophy at Millsaps College.

Critic Brian Domino writes of Brown’s book: “I applaud the author’s successful attempts to connect philosophy to the quotidian. From her account of her fasting friend, Doug, to the more extensive discussions of curry and (pre) menses, Brown connects abstract philosophy to life—which to my mind is exactly what Nietzsche is trying to do.”

Mercy Seat Press will publish Dr. Greg Miller’s Mississippi Sudan, a book of poems on the plight of African refugees in the United States, this fall. Miller is a professor of English at Millsaps College and will divide his share of the book’s profits between health clinics in Southern Sudan and the education and health fund of the Sudanese Ministry Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi.

Miller’s scholarly study of George Herbert, the 17th century Anglican poet and priest, will be released by Continuum Publishing in the spring of 2007.
