Research

Dr. Shadow JQ Robinson, Millsaps Department of PhysicsDr. Shadow JQ Robinson studies the properties of atomic nuclei. This is achieved through the use of high powered computer codes utilizing the nuclear shell model. Among the questions he examines is what is the significance of the relative number of protons and neutrons in a nucleus, what are the magnetic properties of various nuclei, and what shapes might these nuceli exhibit.

Other interests within nuclear physics include nuclei far from stability, various astrophysical questions relating to neutron stars, and a number of questions relating to properties of continued fractions within the study of number theory.

In a broader sense however, interests abound anywhere something can be calculated. Any student with an interest in theoretical or computational physics is encouraged to contact Dr. Robinson and discuss research possibilities.
