Hudson Is Boys & Girls Club’s Youth
of the Year for Southeastern Region


Millsaps freshmen Amber Hudson is one of five finalists for the national Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year award. As the statewide and Southeastern region winner, the club presented her with a computer for college.

Hudson has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club for 10 years, most recently as a counselor. She was valedictorian of Jim Hill High School’s class of 1999 and began her studies at Millsaps this fall.

Among her other awards are: Oprah Winfrey Angel Network $25,000 scholarship (for which she appeared on Oprah’s show), Millsaps Second Century and General Fund scholarships, Girl Scout Gold Award, and Parents for Public Schools Outstanding Student Award. Her activities also include: YMA/YWA Missionary President, Clarion-Ledger teen advisory board, National Honor Society, secretary of “Not Here” drug & alcohol prevention club, member of Jim Hill concert choir, and Senior cadet leader and 13-year member of the Girl Scouts.
