Student Employment is a compilation of on-campus, federal work-study, community
service and part-time job positions. Next to classroom attendance, the
most universal experience of a college student is part-time employment.
On-Campus
Employment Opportunities
Opportunities include clerical assistants, student sand computer services,
research and laboratory support, tutoring and various other specialized
positions. The benefits of student employment on campus are many. Students
can develop interpersonal, communication and computer skills while establishing
employment references. With campus jobs, students automatically become
involved within the campus community. Their employment provides them with
an easy way of connecting to at least one office or department.
Federal
Work Study Program
Federal Work-Study (FWS) is part of a student’s financial aid
package. This eligibility does not mean you will be guaranteed employment.
FWS
opportunities are real jobs. The term “work-study” does not
mean that you can study on the job. The FWS program encourages the part-time
employment of undergraduate students who need supplemental income to
help fund their education. Our work study programs are designed to augment
student’s educational goals with work experience. This is accomplished
either through participation in community service work assignments or
through on-campus job positions. Please note: A student’s federal
work study earnings cannot exceed their FWS allocation.
FWS
Community Service Program
The Millsaps Federal Work-Study Community Service Program provides an arrangement
through which students complete work-study assignments as community service.
The number of hours that a student may work depends on the amount of their
Federal Work-Study Award. Students accepting an assignment through this
program must have transportation. Students may choose to work at one of
the following agencies:
Baptist
Hospital
Bethlehem
Center, Inc.
Methodist
Rehabilitation Center - Main Campus
Methodist
Specialty Care Center - East Campus
North Midtown Community Development Corporation
