Home to five museums, ten historic sites and three parks, downtown Jackson is Mississippi's center for culture and entertainment. The funky Fondren Arts District, less than five minutes from campus, features art galleries, local boutiques, a bakery, two coffee shops, and some of the best restaurants in town. Zippity Doo Dah Weekend, Mal's St. Paddy's Parade, Celtic Fest, Crossroads Film Festival and the International Ballet Competition are just a few of the cultural, entertainment, and performing arts options that abound in and around Jackson.
