Dear Millsaps Community:
Iconic poet Robert Frost wrote, "Two roads diverged in a wood and I - I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." Millsaps College is very much like the road less traveled, a life-changing journey rather than the ultimate destination. As a member of this community of scholars, you are encouraged to explore every opportunity presented to you along the way. The renowned faculty will introduce you to the rigors of reading, critiquing, writing, reviewing, and analyzing existing truths. Our seasoned and devoted staff of coaches, administrators, technicians, and service professionals will ground your learning in the widest spectrum of cocurricular experiences. Moreover, your Division of Student Life aspires to be a bridge that connects your classroom learning to your cocurricular endeavors.
The options are as limitless as your imagination. Create a club or organization. Join a fraternity or sorority. Embrace a social-justice principle and advocate for it. Write for a publication. Nominate a friend for an award or recognition. Take an off-campus internship. Eat with a study group in the "Caf," our dining area. Meet with a counselor. Live in a residence hall. Play a sport. Make a friend. Pray in your faith tradition. Volunteer your services and spirit to a disadvantaged region. Send a card to a bereaved acquaintance. Exercise. Vote in a student election. Voice a grievance against some wrong. Play, think, love, learn.
Yes, Millsaps College is a road less traveled by; Student Life wants to be a bridge; and as you undertake the excursion, let us know how we can expand the sight-seeing with you. I hope your years here fulfill Mr. Frost's ageless words.
With the warmest of welcomes,
R. Brit Katz
Vice President for Student Life
