Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI)

2022 APSI Registration NOW OPEN!


Millsaps College, in cooperation with the College Board, is pleased to offer two, Advanced Placement® Summer Institutes in the summer of 2022; one online in June and one in-person on our beautiful campus in July, for new and experienced high school teachers currently teaching, or preparing to teach, AP® courses.

Participants will enjoy four days of hands-on instruction, exploring the latest methods and curriculum topics* in Advanced Placement® education, concluding their experience with a renewed level of enthusiasm for the AP® program; equipped with new ideas and resources for use in their classrooms.

*Pre-AP® topics or middle school–level subjects will not be covered.

While professional development is not required to prepare for 2022-23 AP® course updates and new classroom resources, the College Board encourages all AP® teachers to take advantage of any professional development offered by AP®.

Teachers who plan to attend any AP® Summer Institute should be able to:

      • Understand the Course
        • The course framework defines the scope of the course and specifies what students must know and do to be successful on the AP® Exam.
      • Plan the Course
        • Sequencing, pacing, and scaffolding are essential for building students’ understanding and their ability to transfer and apply knowledge and skills.
      • Teach the Course
        • Effective instructional strategies help students to develop mastery of course content and skills over time.
      • Assess Student Progress and Understanding
        • Learning requires time, practice, and regular feedback.


Following are AP® courses being offered in both 2022 APSIs here at Millsaps.  To confirm and see assigned instructors, please check our website for each institute through College Board.

Each institute is four days beginning on Monday and ending on Thursday.

Monday – Thursday
7:30 – 8:00 a.m. – Technology* Check-in (for online) and Classroom Arrival (for in-person)
8:00 – 12:00 p.m. – Instruction Time (includes a 15 min mid-morning break)
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Lunch Break (Online – lunch is on your own; In-Person – Lunch is provided in campus cafeteria)
1:00 – 5:00 p.m. – Instruction Time (includes a 15 min mid-afternoon break)

*Technology troubleshooting will be available to registered online participants on Sunday, June 19 on an as needed basis.  Times should be scheduled individually and requested via email at

The College Board now requires all participants to register online through CVent. Space is limited, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.

Registration Confirmation

Within 10 working days of receipt of your registration, a letter of confirmation will be sent via email to the email address supplied by the participant during registration. If you do not receive confirmation, please do not assume you are registered. If after 10 days you have not received a confirmation, please contact us at

Registration Deposit & Payment(s)

An $80 non-refundable deposit, or purchase order for the full amount of tuition plus any lab fees, is required to complete your registration.

To pay by check, please email us at to request an invoice. Please provide all information pertaining to your registration, including your confirmation number, as well as the person, organization name, physical address, and the name and email address of the person the invoice should be sent.

To submit a purchase order please email your PO to and include all information required to prepare and send an invoice including any requests for Millsaps current W9.  Should you require us to complete a vendor application please send as an attachment to your email.

If at this time of registration you are only paying the non-refundable $80 deposit, all remaining balances are due June 1 for our online institute June 20-23, and July 1 for our in-person institute July 11-14.  Payment for any registrations made after these deadlines are due upon registration.  Payment options and instructions to follow are included in the confirmation email registrants will receive via email.

Refund Policy

All cancellations must be submitted in writing by June 1 for our online institute June 20-23, and July 1 for our in-person institute July 10-14. Registered participants who cancel prior to these deadlines will receive a full refund for tuition and any lab fees paid less the $80 non-refundable deposit required at registration. NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED for any cancellations submitted and received beyond these dates.


Registered participants who find they are unable to attend may substitute one teacher for another from the same school with no penalty. Substitutions should be for the same course/subject matter. A school or individual will be billed the full amount if a registered participant does not show.  Refunds to a school or individual will not be issued for any registered substitution that does not show.

Cancellations are required in writing and we will refund the tuition amount minus the $80 non-refundable deposit for cancellations made prior to June 1 for online and July 1 for in-person. Cancellations made after these dates are non-refundable.

AP Scholarship Recipients

If you are an AP scholarship recipient, you are required to also register through the CVent website and simply indicate you are a scholarship recipient. If you have any questions or concerns about College Board AP scholarships, please email for more information.

Continuing Education Units

The Mississippi Department of Education recognizes Continuing Education Units (CEU) earned at Millsaps APSI for teacher certificate renewals. Teachers with 100% attendance records at the APSI may receive 3.0 CEUs. Attendance at all class sessions is required for teachers to be awarded CEU credit. Participants should check with their local systems about certification credit. Participants who attend 90% or more of the Institute may receive a certificate that they participated in the workshop. Participants who miss more than 10% of the APSI are not eligible to receive a certificate.
