The pre-law program at Millsaps College welcomes you, regardless of your major. Millsaps graduates have entered law school after earning majors from accounting to biology, business administration to communication studies, English to political science and others. Law schools prize your ability to think, critically analyze information, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and every major at Millsaps ensures you will develop these skills. Our pre-law advisor provides individualized guidance as well as help navigating the law school application process. Many law-related internships are available in Jackson, the seat of Mississippi state government, and give you an additional edge in your professional preparation.
The Pre-Law Association hosts an annual law school forum, one of the largest in the Southeast, regularly attended by 15–20 law school recruiters from across the country.
Many pre-law students participate in the Millsaps Mock Trial Team, which has grown to be one of the largest programs in the Southeast. From its own historic mock trial courtroom on campus, the Mock Trial Team begins each season in August and competes through the spring semester. The team has won a bid to the opening rounds of the American Mock Trial Association national competition as well as numerous honors such as best attorney awards, best witness awards, and top rankings in regional competitions.
